She has a heart of gold and is dedicated to helping those find the right path in their life. Valentine’s Day Weekend Wrap up

Janelle C. photography_019

Let me start off by saying… I had an amazing Valentine’s Day this weekend! My husband and I love to explore and try new foods around Atlanta and he found this awesome spot that had multiple locations for drinks, food and lounging!

We started the night with amazing food at Cellar 56. After that we went upstairs to Czar ICE Bar! Cold was an understatement… Not only was it cold outside, it was cold inside. The bar top was made of ice but the drinks definitely kept us warm! It was such an awesome spot for lounging and drinks! We will definitely go back!

The last stop of the night was a “Secret” location called Prohibition…. I know, I know… when you think of the name you think of back in the olden days when drinks were illegal. But this hidden gem is a speakeasy club-like lounge with a cigar locker! Totally amazing!!!  When I say it is a secret location – it is secret! You can easily pass by the location and not know it was a speakeasy club. The only way to get in is by finding the code, going into the phone booth and dialing that number in. The back door will open if the code is correct and then you are in! AWESOME-SAUCE!!!

I am so sad that we didn’t get pictures together – but the night was so amazing! I was just soaking it all in!

On another note, my dear friend, Kimberly of Kimberly Murray Photography, took amazing pictures of my hubby and I for our Anniversary last year. She just recently posted our session on her blog just in time for Valentine’s Day! Check it out HERE.:)

2015 goals…

Oh 2014 – where did you go? So much has happened last year and I didn’t have time to share with you all! I finished my MBA in December, attended a Jasmine Star workshop and shot a few weddings… all of which will be coming to a blog near you!

In the meantime, I decided to take the month of January to focus on my goals. I wanted my goals to be more attainable and purposeful. I am in this business to share and preserve memories. I am here for my clients. 2015 will be a year of growing, planning and making things happen for me!

Blog at least 1-2 days a week…. Baby steps, I know

Update my pricing & wedding workflow

Network with wedding vendors: 2014 was a great year for connecting with local vendors… I can’t wait to connect with more this year!

Re-start my sweet and savory posts!

Work on my branding

Shoot another destination wedding… Jamaica? Hawaii? I would love to visit an island this year and shoot such a romantic wedding/portrait session!

Do a styled shoot! This will definitely be done this year!

Get published in print

Disconnect more & be present: Limit the amount of time surfing on social media. Put the phone away when around family. Be present during the moment instead of wanting to pull out the cell phone to capture the moment. Focus on what is in front of you… soak it all in!

Stop comparing myself to others: Oh, you know that saying “Comparison is the Thief of Joy” – this is so true! The comparison game has been a struggle for me. I love to see industry peers succeed but at times I find myself comparing my work to theirs. At times I feel like I am standing still as others are making things happen. Not this year – I promise myself to focus more on my work and my business. I want to do what is best for my clients. As I choose to disconnect more from surfing on Social Media this would allow me to focus on more important aspects of my business.

Focus on health and wellness.

Find more ways to be organized: My office needs help – seriously!

Take more vacations with the hubby

Learn and shoot film: HUGE goal of mine. I have been an avid follower of film. The creamy textures and amazing bokeh has caught my eye for a long time. This year I plan on renting a Contax and trying it out for personal work. I want to step out of my comfort zone and find ways to be more creative.

2015 goals - Janelle C Photography - Atlanta GA wedding photographer

That is all for now! I know it is February 2nd – but I would love to know what are your 2015 goals! If you have already made a blog post about them, please feel free to list them in the comments!

Cheers to 2015!!:)

Jennifer - I share many of the same goals- especially being more present. We should check in with each other at the end of the year! Let’s go get 2015!

Natalie - You are on it, girl! :) Love these goals!

Serena - Awesome post – and I love that photo. It’s so simple and fitting! Also, it’s so great to set goals – excited to see how 2015 goes for you! :)

Abbey - Way to go Janelle!!! You got this!!

Chivon & Jermell : After session

You may remember Chivon & Jermell’s beautiful wedding day. I had the greatest pleasure to photograph their after session!

An After Session is when my newlywed couples gets together with me for one more shoot after the wedding. Some couples opt for this service as a chance to gain a few shots once the stress of wedding planning is entirely out of the way. An added bonus: Wearing that beautiful wedding dress all over again!:)
